Integrity: Enlightened Self-Interest : Overview & Definitions

All of us want to:

  1. Feel personal wellbeing and be authentic
  2. Enjoy nourishing and productive connection with others, and
  3. Feel like we are helping make the world a better place in meaningful and significant ways.

These are our Three Core Drives. You could also call them the Three Realms of “I” because unless you express all three Realms you will not feel like a whole self nor will you experience a durable sense of fulfillment.

If your sense of self is limited to only our own self-preservation, wellbeing or success, your need for connection will suffer and as a result you will handicap your ability to truly serve highest good.

When your sense of self revolves around other people with whom you are in relationship, your self-expression and personal power will suffer, and as a result your ability to truly serve highest good is handicapped.

When your sense of self revolves around how much of a difference you can make in the world, your personal expression suffers, as do your relationships.

Whenever you neglect any of these Three Realms of “I,” you will feel like an incomplete self, because you in fact are incomplete.

When you are incomplete, you are not the only person who suffers. The people you care about suffer and the world around you suffers. No one benefits when you neglect any of your Three Realms of “I.”
